Contra Dancing is back on South Whidbey!

contra dancesA local group of dancers is organizing monthly contra dances at the Hall. The first of 2018 is Saturday January 6th from 6 – 10 pm. Suggested donation is $10 – $15 or bring a potluck snack to share.

Contra dancing is a social dance that one can attend without a partner. The dancers form couples, and the couples form sets of two couples in long lines starting from the stage and going down the length of the dance hall. Throughout the course of a dance, couples progress up and down these lines, dancing with each other couple in the line. The dance is led by a caller who teaches the sequence of figures in the dance before the music starts. It’s easy to learn, it’s fun and everyone should give it a try.  No experience necessary. And, you don’t need to bring a partner.

Co-hosted by Whidbey Island Contra Dance and Clinton Community Hall.
